The Hayes Learning commons will be hosting the Mystery Book of the Month again this year. Beginning October 5th, each Thursday a clue to our mystery books will be posted on our social network pages (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) Students will have the opportunity to guess what they think the title of the mystery book is for a chance to Win a copy of the book. Students can guess as many times as they would like.
This year we will feature 2 books each month.
One book will be for K-2 and the other for 3-5.
**Be sure to follow us on social media for your chance to win a copy of the Mystery Book!**
The Hayes Learning Commons is embarking on the journey of self-checkout this year. We are hoping to empower our students to take ownership of their library books and due dates by allowing them to check out their own books.
Students have been trained on the "How to" of the self-checkout system and have begun to practice what they have learned! So far they are LOVING it! We are hoping this encourage students to be proactive in knowing their due dates and help cut down on the number of lost and overdue books! This also frees up Mrs. justice and Mrs. Spencer to help with book selection!
,The shelf markers/library cards are ready! Check-out begins tomorrow!
We will begin using a self check out system this year in the Learning Commons. Students will be able to check their own books in and out. This will serve to empower our patrons to take responsibility for their books. It will also free up Mrs. Spencer to help others locate their just right books! We are excited to embark on this new journey here in the Learning Commons.
5 Things to remember about check-out:
1. Books are circulated for 2 weeks,
2. Books can be renewed (checked out again) 1 time for an additional 2 weeks.
3. You are responsible for any books checked out to you. Remember our book care rule!
4. If you have ANY overdue books, you may not check-out another until you return the one that is overdue.
5. Returning books one time is important. Other students might be waiting to enjoy your book. When books are returned on time, you get a sticker for your shelf marker.
We are almost back in full swing in the Learning Commons. This rotation students in K-5th will be transforming into Pokemon Hunters! The students are participating in a scavenger hunt to learn about important area of the Learning Commons!
